Missy's love of old houses came from childhood summers spent on Lake Michigan.  The family cottage that was designed and built by her great-grandfather had the unconventional cozy spaces that sparked her imagination.  As an adult, Missy was inspired to re-create the same kind of charm in new architecture.

While studying for her Masters in Architecture from CU Denver, Missy knew that remodeling older homes was her calling.  Her career began in San Francisco where she managed high-end projects, from single bathroom remodels to multi-story additions.  Whether it was an 1880's Victorian or a 1930's Bungalow, Missy created spaces that were both functional and fitting.  In 2008 Missy relocated to Denver and started her own firm, Missy Brown Design.  Since then, Missy has focused on transforming older, tired homes with the goal of modernizing the spaces while celebrating their historic style.  While most of her work is focused in the Denver area, she has been commissioned for projects in New Hampshire, Chicago, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Sonoma Valley, California.

A few years after establishing her company, Missy discovered another passion - - designing and building high-end tree houses.  While most of her work is focused on homes, she found two unique opportunities to create custom tree houses in the mountains.  The structures speak for themselves, please view them here.

Missy's work shows a talent for blending the old with the new.  With a love for historic architecture, she specializes on improving and maintaining the classics.  Missy's focus on preserving vintage charm is a rarity.
